Right Management - Florida/Caribbean

Right Management—Florida/Caribbean has helped shape South Florida’s HR environment and inspired over 40,000 people to reach higher, expand career paths and become community “change agents” through: free summer workforce entry seminars for college students and recent graduates; training for disadvantaged young people in academic remediation, job readiness and life management skills; support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward and Miami-Dade Counties, the United Way, Jr. Achievement and other community organizations; its Booming VOICES program that engages soon-to-be-retired professionals in community service; and free career transition services to over 5,000 HR professionals, among other initiatives.

Internally, Right’s employees benefit from the firm’s “Guide and Inspire” culture. With Right’s encouragement, educational opportunities and flexibility, employees attain advanced degrees and certifications, and volunteer year-round as community leaders. That culture has been a key factor in its ranking among Florida Trend’s “Best Companies to Work For” (2012, 2011, 2010). Founders Tom and Maureen Shea have also been recognized as the United Way’s Corporate Citizen Award and selection for “2013 Florida Glass Ceiling Award” by the Florida Diversity Council, respectively.

As part of the multinational Manpower Group, Right Management—Florida/Caribbean ensures that its suppliers also operate in a responsible and ethical manner, while limiting their impact on the environment. This includes a zero tolerance policy againstforced labor, child labor and human trafficking,

In 2009, Dr. Caplow founded Fish Navy Films to produce intelligent, unbiased documentary features and shorts on environmental sustainability and human health.

More recently, Ted Caplow is dedicating his innovative ideas to philanthropy by creating The Caplow Children's Prize, which is a novel humanitarian contest whose purpose is to save the greatest number of children's lives. Unlike conventional charitable efforts, the Children's Prize presents a model that empowers donors to act directly where and how they wish, even across great distances.

Young Social Entrepreneur of the Year

Joshua Williams

At the tender age of four, Joshua Williams became passionate about assisting the needy after viewing a Sunday morning broadcast of “Feed the Children.” He was in disbelief at the suffering that children everywhere were subject to and wanted to make a difference. Fueled by his compassion, Joshua’s Heart Foundation was birthed in 2005 with his personal mission to Stomp Out Hunger. Today at age 11, Joshua and his Foundation have distributed more than 500,000 pounds of food to approximately 2,500 low-income families living in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

Beyond delivering food to 15-25 families, bi-weekly, the Foundation holds quarterly food distribution campaigns that provide on average 15-20 pounds of food per family, including fresh fruit and vegetables, pasta/rice, beans and more, and are coupled with cooking demonstrations to show families how to cook easy, tasty and nutritious meals; The Backpack Program gives backpacks filled with nonperishable, healthy meals for the weekend to elementary-aged children enrolled in their school’s free/reduced-price meal program, on Friday afternoons.

The Foundation also has a reading program as part of its goal to break the cycle of poverty through early childhood and youth education programs.
